Meet the Johns Family and Implant Dentistry Staff
Carrie joined our team in December 2002. A native of Puyallup, Carrie graduated from Puyallup High School before studying at Pierce College and Western Washington University. The staff of JFD is like a second family to Carrie and she enjoys the many close friendships she has developed with our patients. Carrie’s role as office manager keeps the administration side of the office running smoothly, but her caring disposition gives her the ability to fill the role as patient liaison. Her job is to serve and assist our patients. Carrie shares her home with her partner Mike and their beloved long-haired dachshunds Fred, Ethyl and Lucy. She is a sports and music enthusiast.
Originally from the great state of Texas, she moved to Washington with her family in 2004, when they became stationed at McChord Air Force base. She has two beautiful children whom she adores. Melissa and her long-time boyfriend Richard are the parents of three dachshunds. They love spending quality time together. She graduated from dental assisting school in 2005. She has enjoyed working and helping patients more in an administrative capacity and excels at making patients feel comfortable. Melissa has worked in all aspects of the dental office and is here to help you with scheduling, answer any questions you may have, assist with dental insurance, and loves to make you feel part of our dental family. When she is not in the office she is busy with numerous activities. She is such a joy to have in our office.
“Alex” joined the JFD team in the spring of 2021, but is not new to dentistry. Alex has a history of dental assisting and dental administration. She is the glue that keeps the schedule running on time and coordinates where each staff member needs to be.
Alex was raised in the beautiful San Juan Islands and when she is not in the dental practice, you can often find her in a barn. She has a passion for horses and riding and enjoys spending time with her own mare and running her cattle dog Remi.
Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary
Kea was raised on a dairy farm in Enumclaw, WA. After graduating, she attended dental assisting school and worked for a family dentist in her hometown for 15 years. Deciding to further her education, she went on and attended EFDA school at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia. Kea is a highly trained dental assistant that by law is licensed to place fillings and take final impressions. This is a huge asset to our practice and free’s up Dr. Johns’ time. In her spare time, Kea and her husband Nic love to spend time with their two boys. They love the outdoors, rooting for Seattle sport teams, and spending quality time at their happy place, their vacation home in Sunland. Fun fact, Kea and our office manager Carrie are cousins.
Shelby was raised in Graham and graduated from Bethel High School. While attending Charter College for dental assisting, Shelby completed her externship at our practice. We loved her so much and see so much potential in her, she is our newest member of our assisting team. Shelby is excellent at organization and keeps our sterilization running at full steam while treating patients. Shelby and her longtime boyfriend are building their first home together in Eatonville. During her off time, Shelby loves spending time with family and friends and you can often find her fishing or camping.
Restorative Dental Hygienist
Nicole joined our team in 2010 after graduating Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Washington University. Her education from the EWU Dental Hygiene program prepared Nicole to be a well-rounded hygienist. She is grateful to work with such a wonderful team, as well as getting to know our amazing patients. Nicole, her husband Dustin, love spending all their free time with their two children, Landon and Presley. In Nicole’s free time, she enjoys crafting, working out, hiking, spending time with family and friends and rooting for our Seattle Seahawks and Mariners.
Registered Dental Hygienist
Trisha is our newest team member. Raised in the pacific northwest, she calls Lacey home, but hopes to transplant to the Puyallup area soon. Trisha graduated from Seattle Central College. Prior to pursuing her dream of dental hygiene, Trisha worked in the aerospace industry.
Trisha has a true passion for dentistry and education. She has a knack of connecting with patients and allowing them to be heard.
Trisha is a mom to three dogs, but is eagerly waiting the arrival her first child….due in February of 2022.
Registered Dental Assistant
Johns Family Dentistry was lucky to have Avery complete her dental assisting externship in our practice and we liked her so much, we offered her a permanent position. Avery is a 2021 graduate from Pima Medical Institute.
Avery hails from Enumclaw and was raised on a farm. A true outdoors lover and avid hunter, you can often find Avery enjoying the best of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
Do not let her quiet disposition fool you. She is a confidant young lady and excels at her job. She has a gift for helping the patient’s become very comfortable and understands their treatment needs.
“Char” has had an interest in dentistry for as long as she remembers, but never had the right opportunity to make the career change. In the spring of 2021, Johns Family Dentistry was looking for the right personality to fill the role at the office and someone willing to train in phlebotomy. Office manager Carrie, immediately thought of her sister Char, and hence it has become a family affair.
Char was born in San Jose, CA, but has called Puyallup home since she was an infant. She graduated from Rogers High School and has worked for different companies, primarily in warehouses. Char has a true interest in dentistry and Dr Johns often welcomes her to observe over his shoulder.
When not at the practice, Char is busy with her blended family. Char has an adult daughter and son, while her wife has three adult sons. They are often entertaining their grandchildren, as they have nine between them.
